Relaxation

Relaxing is something most of us find hard to do. One of the best ways to deal with stress is to relax. Our job here at The Orange Tree is to help you learn to relax, using specific techniques that you can take away with you and practice at home - even just 10 minutes a day will maintain the benefit of your Orange Tree break until the next time!

Our relaxation sessions take place in the Relaxation Studio, a beautiful light, airy loft space with snoezelen lighting, chilled out music and aromatherapy oils. Snoezelen lighting is a fantastic invention used for many years in professional therapies for children and the elderly. It creates relaxation through pulsating use of cords of light and colour and shapes projected onto surfaces.

Visualisation

Visualisation is a great complement to full body relaxation. It's connected to your thinking and involves creating images in your mind. You're encouraged to explore this imagery, using senses such as vision, smell, touch and hearing. All of which work to help you relax!

Gentle Exercise

During your stay at The Orange Tree, you'll also take a little gentle exercise. This is fun, simple and relaxed, and, because it's not at all strenuous, you don't need any special clothing - just whatever you feel comfortable in. Sessions cover stretching and posture- improving techniques to relieve aches, pains and shoulder tension. If you're in any doubt about exercise, please check with your doctor before your visit. Walking and fresh air is also a great stress-beater, so make sure you bring a pair of hiking boots, good shoes or trainers so you can get out on the moors in your free time with one of Graham's easy-to-follow maps.
