Food and Drink

If you are what you eat then you’ll leave The Orange Tree feeling healthy and energised. We prepare all the food ourselves in our farmhouse kitchen using local produce wherever we can. There’s plenty of it! We serve meals in our lovely dining room with its long banquet table and fantastic views out across the valley.

Typical breakfasts include cereal,  fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, jams and free range eggs, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes.

On weekends our hearty home-made soups are one of our lunchtime specialities with a selection of breads and cheeses. Or, if you’re heading out for an all-day walk, we’ll send you off with an energy-packed lunch!
Our three-course dinner is freshly prepared using fresh produce. All served with our selection of delicious wines (for a small extra charge!).

Our weekend food tends to be vegetarian but we’re more than happy to cater for special dietary needs or vegan diets, just let us know when you book.

If you fancy an evening meal midweek and prefer to stay in the warm embrace of the Orange Tree, highly recommended is an excellent local service, “Moors Kitchen” run by “Jackie Brown” who will prepare and cook an evening meal especially for you, and deliver it direct to you here. Book your meal before 12:00 noon with Edward at The Orange Tree. See the menu here.

Wines

We’ve chosen some delicious wines to enjoy during your stay.

Our fine selection of reds and whites includes everything from a smooth Merlot and Gold Medal winning Cabernet Sauvignon to a fruity Sauvignon Blanc and sparkling ‘Vin Mousseux de Qualité’ Chardonnay.

All come from a local supplier (“Rog le Vin”) who imports directly from private estates and co-operatives in the South of France.

Currently, one of the world’s most exciting wine regions, often known as the French ‘New World’, it is renowned for its quality and creativity. At around £10 a bottle, they’re also very reasonably priced!

Cheers !
