B & B / Walking Breaks (from £45 p.p.p.n)
We are open throughout the week for Bed and Breakfast.
Breakfast is served in our lovely dining room with its long banquet table and fantastic views across the valley.
Typical breakfasts include cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, jams and free range eggs.
The meals at the Orange Tree over a weekend course are all made with fresh ingredients with care and attention and with a lot of love stirred in ! Similarly the breakfasts during the week are prepared to order and our full cooked vegetarian breakfasts are very popular. There is of course all the usual fresh fruit salad, cereals, toast and yoghurts to enjoy as leisurely as you wish.
Guests eat together around a long table in the dining room which looks out over the stunning views of the Rosedale Valley. Guests don’t need to be concerned about coming on their own as the communal dining arrangements are such that mealtimes are a sociable and friendly time where guests enjoy getting to know others and interesting conversations abound.
For midweek B&B there are many lovely places locally to eat out with great food and a friendly atmosphere. However for guests who would rather stay in on the evenings, we are more than happy for people to bring their own snacks or food to warm up in our kitchen, as long as the food is vegetarian . Guests are welcome to sit at the dining table or have a picnic in the garden and use whatever crockery they need . We hope that this helps those who are planning a B and B visit.
During your stay you can relax in our comfortable rooms, enjoy the treatments (which should be booked in advance of your stay please to guarantee we have a therapist available for you) and make use of all the facilities at your own leisure.
This might be as much as you want to do during your stay, just enjoy a bit of quiet and relaxation time, which is perfect!
However, if you are interested in exploring the area and love walking or cycling then this is the ideal base for you.
From a gentle stroll down to Rosedale Abbey to an invigorating hike up Rosedale Chimney Bank there are plenty of paths to explore. Lyke Wake Walk with its diverse wildlife and moorland scenery is a perfect trail. We can give you advice and suggest walks and route maps if you need them.
Your walking breaks can also include therapeutic sessions such as relaxation, visualisation, gentle yoga exercise and reflexology or massage by qualified therapists at a small extra cost (these should be booked in advance please so we can book in one of our therapists and schedule them in for you) . You can also use our sauna and foot spas.
Our location makes The Orange Tree an ideal base for a walking holiday and exploring Rosedale. Activity in beautiful countryside with the hot tub or sauna to come back to!
The Orange Tree is designed to be relaxing and comfortable, “a home from home”, and has been fully refurbished over the last 5 years.
Each of our eight bedrooms; (a range of twins, doubles and a triple) have been sympathetically decorated with soft pastel shades to make you feel even more relaxed and comfortable.
Most of the rooms are ensuite, other rooms have their own private bathroom just across the hall. Every room has a fantastic view across either side of the beautiful Rosedale valley.
And then there’s the living room, with comfy sofas and cushions, a big open fireplace and lots of interesting magazines and books to read.
The dining room, a lovely double windowed room with views out onto the valley, has a long dining table where everyone can sit and enjoy meals together, candle–lit in the evening.
Plus, of course, there’s our relaxation studio, sauna and treatment rooms, all for you to use while you’re here.
What to wear?
The great thing is you don’t need to worry about what to wear. So, tracksuits, jeans, anything comfy, is fine, even for meals, whatever you feel most comfortable in.
All towels are supplied but bring a dressing gown if you are planning on booking in for a treatment. A swimming costume and flip flops are a good idea for when using the sauna / hot tub. Dressing gowns are available to hire at £5.
Don’t forget your wellies or walking boots if you fancy going out for a hike over the moors!
